Why bother asking about God?

The answer to this question affects every part of  our lives, and our death.
If God does not exist and Man has just invented the idea, then there is ultimately no purpose to our lives and no life after death. However, in each of us there is a part which believes that there "must be more to life than this". Is this because is it true?

This 'God' question has a huge impact on two areas in our lives:

• Does my life really have a purpose?
• What happens to me when I die?
